I’m not sure what I would do without Melissa. Her product and building knowledge has supported us with challenging decisions. She has empowered us to tell the difference between what we really want and need versus what just ‘nice to haves’. Melissa has helped us stick to our budget and stay focused on how we will live in our home which has been a huge benefit to us. I only wish we would’ve engaged her earlier to help with concept design!

What you get...

  1. Consult

  1. Every successful project starts here. I’ll learn more about your lifestyle, design preferences, challenges and goals. I’ll provide feedback on existing visuals and ideas, plus answer any questions you have for me.

  2. Concept Plans (Optional)

This important stage ensures you have a functional design in place and that nothing has been overlooked before picking up any tools or making big investments. They paint the picture for how you’re going to live and function in the space.

  3. Style Guide

A style guide upholds the vision for your home and includes a moodboard, colours, materials and finishes to make it happen. We’ll refine ideas discussed in our consult to create a cohesive visual direction for your home.

  4. Design Specifications

Including Materials, Finishes & Joinery Design
I'll transform ideas developed in the style guide into schedules and conceptual drawings. The schedule maps out the way materials, finishes, fixtures and lighting will work within your space. They become the go-to instructions for your build team and suppliers. Scale and proportion are everything so any cabinetwork will be designed at this stage too.

  5. Construction

While the builders and makers get to work, I’m by your side to liaise directly with your build team. This includes regular site visits and phone calls with your tradespeople to troubleshoot and make sure it’s coming together as planned. This hands-on support can save you hours of time, thousands of dollars and a lot of headache in the long run!

  6. Furnishings (Optional)

Furnishings are often the difference between good and great design. When considered early in the build process, we can select the perfect pieces to fit your space OR build the perfect space to fit your items. We can even take a shopping trip together so I can share my tips, trade secrets, favourite shops & store discounts with you.

  7. Celebrate!

Designing a home is no easy feat. We’ll catch up one more time to debrief the project, discuss any future plans, and most importantly celebrate what has been created. It’s now your space to enjoy!

FAQs

What is included?

Me and my expertise for the duration of the project. This includes consultations, developing a style guide, specifying materials & finishes, and liaising with construction teams during the build. It may also include drawing up concept plans, furnishings and shopping trips too if you choose. After our initial chat, I’ll prepare a custom proposal with the recommended inclusions and everything you need to know about working together.

How much will it cost?

In short, it depends. Because each home is so unique in space and style the price will vary. The best thing to do is get in touch to discuss your project. I can often provide a rough price over the phone before preparing a custom proposal outlining fees and inclusions tailored to your goals.

How long will we be working together?

Depending on the size of the project it might be a couple of months to a couple of years! I pride myself on building long-standing and honest relationships with every client, so if I’m not the right fit, I’ll let you know from the start.

Can I work with you on just one room in my home?

Yes, my complete package can be applied to an entire home or tailored to a single space. If you’re renovating a kitchen, bathroom or any other room in the house, I’m happy to work with you to make that aspect of your home perfect.

Do you work on new home builds?

Yes. I highly recommend engaging an interior designer early in the process too. A good home must consider how you want to live in it and that can only be executed well when the interiors are considered first.

Do you work on renovations?

Yes. I love transforming homes and have worked on many renovation projects, including my own home.

Do you design for commercial projects?

Yes. While designing homes is where my heart is, I’ve worked on a range of commercial projects that align with my aesthetic too. I would be happy to learn more about your business to see if I’m the right fit. Please complete my enquiry form here or view some of my recent commercial build projects here.
